    Kirk Bohls “not retiring just recharging” on Friday at Austin American Statesman after 51 years and today reporting on Texas firing its baseball coach for the Houston Chronicle

    this comes days after Chronicle laid off more than a couple is sports….which makes you wonder about the use of those funds for this transaction

    Update: Another SJ member who knows more about the situation than I do let me know that the screenshot I pulled was off-base and not fair to Gannett.

    Austin had a really fine paper before it got sold.
    Can't blame Bohls a bit, though it must have hurt to leave.

    Wish I could read his final column, but it's paywalled.
