Seems appropriate, perhaps, that I might post this: The Financial Times's "file not found" page is absolute genius.

Many years ago at the community college we were asked to come up with some kind of 'animated character.'
We hated the idea but of course did it, and thankfully no marketing moved forward with that particular dumb idea.

Anyway, a year later, we were working on a web redesign.
there was one particular 404 error configuration in which we implanted the character.
If you got that one message it said something like 'Page not found, but you found Seamus!'
and it had the little cartoon character.

although the character's name wasn't Seamus
