The Economy

We have at least three local Mexican chains in this area and, as embarrashing as it is, I prefer the fajitas at Chili's because they give you shredded cheese while these other places don't. We were just there Saturday to try the specials for National Margarita Day.

Cheese on fajitas? LOL gringo. Do you also want ranch on your sushi roll?

Shredded lettuce, diced tomato and a watery sour cream. I asked for cheese once and they melted it on everything and I immediately thought, "know what? That's on me. I should have been more clear with the directions."

I also like the chips and salsa at Chili's. Another sin, I know.
If liking Chili's margs/chips/queso is sinful, I'll meet you in hell.

Anymore places like Applebee's, Chili's, etc., are the only restaurants open after 9 p.m., the locals shut down early When I traveled with the summer wood bat team I work for to places like Walla Walla, Yakima, Wenatchee, Longview, Bellingham, etc., we often ate there after a game. Chris King (then the Wenatchee pxp guy) and I joked that Applebee's was the official restaurant of the West Coast League.

Actually it's not a bad place to go for late-night drinks. Their beer selection is decent and they always have something on special at half-price.

There are places here where you can get a bit of stink eye for coming in at 7:30 because they are well underway with closing sidework and practically have a trigger finger on the open/closed sign. Most of them have interchangeable ingredients off the Sysco truck anyway. At a certain point, who we foolin'?

I made fun of Applebee's bars in college, and then I lived in towns in West Virginia and rural Ohio where being stabbed was a real possibility at all of the non-chain bars. The BW3's, Applebee's and TGI Friday's bars suddenly didn't look so bad.
