About ten years ago my wife and I went to a new Mexican restaurant here. I ordered chicken enchiladas verde, which is my quality control benchmark when I hit a new place. My plate arrived, enchiladas with red sauce. I asked the waitress about it and she informed me that the order was correct, and I was like "No, it's not. Verde is *green*." We were getting a little heated and someone else came over, shooed her away, and got my order straightened out.

That place closed within a year. SMH. No, green isn't red.

I have the same test with any Thai place I visit. Often order the Pad Thai first, because if a Thai place can't get the most basic of Thai dishes right, it's probably going to be terrible.

Del Taco just closed 19 of its 20 restaurants in Colorado.

Del Taco made a major move into Texas a decade-plus ago and got its churros shot off. Same with Krystal, strangely enough.

Meanwhile, In-N-Out thrives.
