Ngwena tried to cost them a goal in the second OT as well. He didn't play too well in late regulation, overtime and the penalty kicks, which is all I saw.

Red Star Belgrade will be fined by UEFA for being a bunch of thugs. (Link Here

A replay of the Rangers goal by SuperSub, Nacho Novo, can be seen
. It basically picks up before the goal and runs to the end of the game which included, yes, another yellow card.

Interestingly enough, I heard that some of the Red Star players received red cards while getting in a taxi on the way to the airport.

I may be wrong about this, but I think there's a standing rule in Europe that if you have more than a certain number of players booked in a game, you automatically get a fine.

The club gets fined for failing to control its players appropriately.

Jamie Carragher has declined to come out of International retirement.

Which means who knows who plays in the center of defense with Ferdinand. The name mentioned in the story is Sol Campbell, although it was reported today that John Terry is back training with Chelsea. I'd be looking at Ledley King, who played well enough against Estonia, but he's hurt as well.

Anyone want to take a guess who starts against Germany next Wednesday?

I didn't know soccer was big in Seattle. But apparently the PI has a weekly soccer column written by some guy in London. Does anyone know if this is syndicated or just for the PI?

From what I can gather, it's a Seattle thing, but Ubha has written for Bloomberg in the past on sports other than soccer. Maybe he's Bloomberg's London sports correspondent, and does Seattle as a side-gig.

  9. Joe Ngwenya had the worst penalty kick attempt in the history of penalty kicks

It was bad, but I've seen some just as bad.

Forgive me David, for I have sinned.

at least Beckham put something behind it, Ngwenya just kind off tapped it to Celero, it looked like he just gave up, I know he was trying to chip him, but that was a piss-poor effort ...

One of the things I'm really enjoying about Fox Soccer Channel is that they're taking Sky Sports News live feed for all of its broadcasts now, instead of just the late night version. The noon eastern edition was the 5 p.m. English version, and had running info on Celtic's game, and reported on Liverpool's early win in the CL. It also had previews of all of tonight's Premier League games, and a bunch of pissed off Spurs fans.

One other thing I've found is the BBC five live daily soccer podcast. You can add it you your "my yahoo!" page if you want. Pretty good listen for 15-20 minutes a day.

    Definite thumbs up for that.
