The Start of Feeling the effects of racism

This was/had been my life to a T, I never thought others were going through the same journey:

At the end I just decided to embrace my ethnicity rather than be like everyone else.

 

I don’t know that experience and won’t pretend I do. But I am very sorry.

 

Record Scratch moment is a great way to describe it. I think anybody who has been marginalized due to an aspect of their identity understands that feeling. Children want to fit in so badly, but man, some of them can be absolutely horrible to one another. Of course, they have adults teaching them to be bigots, too.

Also, this story should be required reading for every whitey in America.

In 5th grade, and in 8th grade, and in 12th grade, and then every four years after that.

Yes.

 

I wish I had something more poignant to say than I’m sorry you went through this. I’m glad I read the article. I wish I could hang read this when I was younger.

 

Critical race theory. Shocking.

 

I'm sorry you have to endure this. It's wrong.
