For Obama, it's Strickland or it's a loss. Period. End of story.

    Romney bores me.

That's pretty stupid. For one thing, it assumes that Obama has to win Ohio to win the election. That's simply not so. Two, it assumes that Strickland can deliver Ohio. And who knows if that's true.

He needs someone from a swing state with defense background, because God only knows what he'd do with another pacifist enemy sympathizer. Call it stupid if you want, but there's a growing tide of reasons why, and I told you all this a year ago, the democrats are going to fuck this opportunity up and John McCain will be the next president.

Not to be a contrarian, but -- Assuming Obama can't win Florida -- and that looks to be the case -- I'd like you to put together a realistic equation for the 270 electoral votes needed to get Obama in the White House that doesn't include Ohio...

Wow -- New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia, Missouri, Louisiana, Iowa and Nevada?

And the thing is -- he needs to win every single one of these very, very competitive states (I guess he could lose one of the two 5 voters) -- to get to 275 which is not likely realistic. But I guess it could happen......

    Again, he better win Ohio.......

Reread my post, Zag. I forgot to include Massachusetts (mislabeled New York as MA).

    Not that hard.

If you give him all the states Kerry won (minus New Hampshire), that's 248 Electoral Votes.

Looks like Colorado and Iowa are probably switching to Obama this year, so that's 264 Electoral Votes. If that happens, he's got a ton of options:

New Mexico and one EV from Nebraska would do the trick.

    Or just Missouri.

    Or just South Carolina.

If Obama loses Michigan (the Kerry state that seems most at-risk) yes, he'd probably need Ohio. But even if he loses both, it's not out of the question he could make up 23 electoral votes somewhere.

Missouri and Virginia would be just fine.

  12. Do it again and you're a dead Doc.
