The Veep Thread

OK -- Ed Rendell said today the guy he thinks Obama should pick is Joe Biden...

What about that?

What demographic does Biden bring in that Obama doesn't already have?
If he goes with a white guy, it should be one from the south or southwest.

It can't be a senator.
It's got to be someone who's actually administered something.
But Biden's probably already measuring the drapes at State.

Well Biden shores up the "foreign policy" thing and he makes Pa. a slam dunk and likely sews up Ohio as well.

And let me say this because you and I have always had good back and forth.

I didn't want to come off as a deck when I challenged your religious beliefs earlier but I am really frustrated with christianity right now and as a result I am frustrated with christians and I am in a place where I am questioning my faith and something you said just pissed me off because I am sick of this struggle between the "christian right" and "christian left" -- I thought all followers of christ were supposed to be on the same team yet all I see is division and divisiveness in churches.

So I apologize if I offended you, it was not my intention, I'm just in a place right now where I am questioning a lot about religion and faith.

Daschle for Chief of Staff.

I'm coming around to the no Senators bandwagon, though.

Don't know yet who that leaves us with.

I'll convince you to jump on the Hagel or bust bandwagon yet, Zeke.

Hagel, retiring, not really a Senator, and not a D senator, which is the real deal-breaker.

All of those are good things, Fenian.

Fenian,

I am not being snarky when I ask this, just curious. If Barack Obama came to you and asked you for a list of five people you believe he should consider for veep, who would be on that list?

I agree with Fenian (shocking, I know). Both veeps must be governors or former governors.

Obama would be wise to pick Richardson or Strickland.

McCain would be wise to pick Jindal or Pawlenty.

I say this as someone who loves McCain: if he picks Jindal, I am voting Obama. Not because I don't like Jindal. The exact opposite. Someday, I hope I get the opportunity to vote for Jindal for president. But Louisiana needs him more as governor than the country needs him as vice president.
