  1. That's a very good point.

Maybe Christ or Palin, but I wouldn't want to see Romney.

What about Rendell? He picks up a shaky Pa. for Obama, makes the Clintonites happy, and brings administrative experience.

Can someone of a conservative bent tell me why McCain would pick Pawlenty?

He's young, that's all I can think of.

I don't think for a second he can deliver Minnesota. Not for a second.

  6. Why don't you think he can deliver Minny, Zeke?

Perhaps he can help deliver Wisconsin or Iowa.

Does anyone think Romney deliver Massachusetts for McCain?

Minnesota always goes democrat. Hell, if it went democrat in 1984 and 1988, it's a pretty good sign that's not going to change this year.

    Trivia time:

Name the last VP that “delivered” a state or that made a huge difference in a swing state.

Last I checked, he's not all that popular there.

I mean, he's pretty well liked, but not enough to flip that state.

He'd have no impact in Wisconsin. And Iowa's gone, for McCain, at least against Obama.

    Mizzou --

No, but that wouldn't be why he was picking Romney -- it would be to appease the bidness part of the base.

I was honestly asking about Pawlenty, because I'm not sure what it gains McCain except youth.

Did Cheney deliver Wyoming in 2000? :D

The base loves him. He is a winner -- he was one of the few GOPers to win a heavily contested race in 06. In West Wing terms, he is Ray Sullivan to McCain's Arnie Vinick.
