Anyone think Glen will be losing his hand in substitute for Rick and Maggie will be getting raped in substitute for Michonne in Woodbury?

Makes sense now at least. Although, they've gone far beyond comic lore now.

I was thinking about that. I don't think we'll see anyone else lose a hand since we have ol' one-armed Merle but I would be willing to bet that at the end of this season, the Governor cuts Andrea's head off instead of the yet-to-debut Tyreese. As for the raping? I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some implied rape but I question if they'll go that far. Of course, we are talking about a show that has pushed the envelope as far as any I've ever seen so who knows?

I wasn't inferring that they'd show the rape, btw.

Hmmm, interesting thought on beheading Andrea. I think she stays on the show longer...there is a good story with her and Rick down the line in the books. I wouldn't mind that.

I haven't read the comics, but have read this thread and some other spoilers here and there. It's clear by now that the comic storyline is really a loose outline for the show — major plot points will follow the same path, but the smaller stuff is changed to streamline things.
So, long story short, I knew about the rape scene. Was it me, or did it actually make that scene with Maggie more intense knowing that it was legitimately hanging out there? Most of the time, you see a scene like that and you know they won't go that far. Watching that, it was in the back of my mind that they might. It really ratcheted up the tension.

Yeah, I thought they were going to take it further. I was ready to send my youngest out of the room. He wasn't watching, but if it went much further I wasn't going to take the chance.

I think that was the intent. Sometimes they do use expectations the comic readers have to create tension in the show. Of course, not everybody will get that, but it's strong scene on its own, too.

My wife (who has read the comics) covered her face when the Gov. started across the table. I think she even uttered an "oh no".

    That shit was INTENSE!

In what Batman said about the comic being different...I agree, but I still think killing Andrea is a reach (although, nice thong by Ms. Holden this week) since she is such a major player later in the comics (one of the "originals")...although she is hardly as badass in the books as she is in the show.

Amazing how much they put into that episode, obviously speeding up things between the Governor and Michonne, putting it all in one brutal fight.

And still they find time to introduce a new group led by Tyreese. So much for the speculation that T-Dog was taking the place Tyreese occupied in the comic (which him getting killed kinda ended, anyway).

Kirkman talking on Talking Dead about how with all the new characters on the show makes it feel like he is writing the comics again was nice to hear. He seems to really be enjoying the process of the TV show and creating a whole new world.

I haven't read the comics but on Talking Dead last night they made reference to the governor doing a lot of bad stuff to Michonne.

So. . . what did he do?
