    1. No one else in the classroom was bothered by the teacher's action.
    2. The student who called 9-1-1 violated a certain school policy by having her cell phone out.
    3. And yet, the teacher is placed on leave, the student walks.
    4. Oh never mind. We're talking California here. All bets on sensibility are off.

So now every kid in California knows that you can get your teacher in trouble automatically by calling 911. Brilliant.

Unbelievable. This student is going to have a rough transition into adulthood. And the real world.

Too bad we didn't know about this when Idaho's daughter got hit in the head by the teacher's flying pen. (Was it a pen he threw at her? Eraser? Can't remember. Do classrooms even have erasers these days?)

    Enters the contrarian:

I don't know enough about the situation to make a judgment one way or the other. Particularly about the student who called 911. Yes, she could be a spoiled brat. She could also be a kid who has the shit beat out of her by an alcoholic parent on a regular basis and got spooked.

She could also be a space alien with Tourette's doing research on the mystical properties of rattling desks and their effect on emergency response personnel.

    That's fine.

I'm not going to indict: (1) American public education; (2) A 14-year-old; (3) The Atherton school system; based on an 6-inch AP story on Yahoo.

Everyone wants to know more, more, MORE! about Howard Bryant.

    Here, though, it's open-and-shut.

    Six inches.

    Could be.

From the story, we don't know.

But it was certainly enough for the OP to advance his agenda of ripping public schools, which destroy private schools when you adjust for socioeconomic factors.

She may be used as a punching bag at home.

So why the FUCK does a teacher have to be put on administrative leave because of it?

    I don't know.

    Six inches.

Not a whole lot of information there. Sounds like it is just SOP any time there is police involvement until things get cleared up. If all is kosher, then he/she will be back committing heresy teaching about evolution in no time.
