So were the books only cooked under Obama? And, if so, why haven't the worker bees at whichever agency puts out those numbers raised an alarm that their work is being doctored?

Well, the guy's a professor, so his starting position is deep in "Boring/Pretentious/Condescending" territory. He's gotta do something ... [/@Riptide]

Past few pages have been pretty boring. Where's a good tweet when you need it?

If you're looking for an ally in your defense of academia/academics, you're looking in the wrong place.

Maybe we just don't compare any president, or nominee, with monkeys, chimps, or apes.

Except for the LFP. You trust that number. Because you think it's telling you what you want to hear.

But you are missing the deeper point behind what she said. The bizarre acting out Trump does has a larger point to it. That's what's carried him this far, and the more experts lash out against it, the more his supporters eat it up. His misbehavior has allowed him to reach escape velocity and now he's untouchable, at least when it comes to this line of attack.

Or, maybe you could just realize that white people and black people are different, and different rules apply to what is considered offensive to each.

I'm glad you said this, because I've recognized this same thing. The argument that Trump "doesn't have the temperament," is "unfit," or has otherwise embarrassed himself out of deserving your vote is a dead letter now. He ran, yes, on "The Wall," but he also ran as a business mogul who "gets things done." He told us, relentlessly, that he was a "winner" who wins. And then, by God, he did it, and it wasn't close. Thereby, his brand as a guy who "gets things done" was validated.

She's not going to overtake him by playing video of him mimicking a disabled reporter on a loop. It's so strange from someone who fancies herself a policy wonk, but she's decided to turn this into a personality contest. Meanwhile, Trump has gone with a more elemental approach: I get things done. She doesn't. And what frustrates people most about government? Not getting things done.
