    Lucinda Williams-ish.

And it turns out Gault sings backup on a track on Williams’ newest release.

Lucinda had a stroke in the last couple of years, I believe.

    Touring, with some changes.

    Love her work.

I'm so socially disengaged and busy I hear about this "Last Christmas" challenge on FB and don't know if I should be bummed that I haven't heard that much Christmas music and avoided the thing - or glad. Really - isn't "Wonderful Christmas Time" the gold standard - and here is the weird thing.

I just heard it as I was typing this message - the WHAM song. So I win? I lose?

I had never heard of that fun game til just now. I lost as I heard it on 80s on 8 recently.

I have friends who do it with "Little Drummer Boy" and it's almost impossible to win. They post on FB when they are eliminated.

Now let's try it with "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

And as a little tease, I'm going to take my thoughts about the song to the unpopular opinions thread.

Of the 10 radio presets in my car, four have been playing wall-to-wall Christmas music since before Thanksgiving.

Heard "Sleigh Ride" twice on my way to work yesterday, and THREE TIMES on my drive home from tennis today.

You would be hard-pressed to make it until 6 p.m. on Dec. 1 without hearing it, let alone to the 25th.

I like Sleigh Ride by Mathis and the Boston Pops (the whip always gets me, I wonder what the sheet music on that looked like).
Rushmore of Christmas Albums (mainly because they would be on while we opened the presents as kids (Bing, Mathis, Charlie Brown and Ray Conniff) though I also have a soft spot for the Carpenters Christmas Portrait. Fun fact: Merry Christmas Darling was a lyric written by the Carpenters college music professor 20 years prior with a reworked melody.

    The Songs.

It’s probably a terrible idea for me to watch IAWL this year. Let’s do this.
