UPDATE: Ozzie Guillen suspended five games

This kind of Government knows how to help business...to encourage it -- the hotels here are bigger and swankier than any of the rug joints we've put in Vegas -- and we can thank our friends in the Cuban government -- which has put up half of the cash with the Teamsters on a dollar for dollar basis -- has relaxed restrictions on imports. What I am saying now is we have what we have always needed -- real partnership with the government.

Bottom line: America loved Batista because they were making money with Batista. Had nothing to do with the ethos of Communism. We certainly have no qualms with the ethos of Communism building our forking iPads for us.

Internationally, the United States will stand on its principles so long as its principles don't harm it economically. Which makes the United States, well, like every other nation in the world. I know this isn't breaking news, but it's good to remember it once in a while.

Just wondering:

What percentage of the "outraged" actually stopped and read the entire article before heading to the stadium to protest? And if not, why not? If you are going to protest something and demand someone's dismissal, isn't it appropriate to have all the information at your disposal before acting?

It would be nice if someone would offer the following observation: "You know, it really was a stupid thing to say, even if, as I assume, something got misplaced in translation. But you know, that's kind of why we CAME here. So we could say whatever we wanted without fear of losing our lives or our livelihoods."

Ozzie is unusual, the old law enforcment saying about Hispanics doesn't seem to apply

What does a hispanic and a cue ball have in common? The harder you hit it, the more English you get out of it.

I thought Charles P. Pierce hated Bill Simmons? Didn't they have a big Twitter smackdown? Why is he writing for his site on the World Wide Web?

Probably should have asked that question about six months back. He's been a regular for that long.

Have asked it a few times.

Yet to get an adequate answer - or any answer at all - from the SportsJournalists.com Charles P. Pierce Admiration Society.
