The Royals traded the only player I still gave a shit about.

Mike MacDougal, one of the best young arms in baseball, dealt away for fucking prospects.

I seriously think this guy has the tools to be a Nolan Ryan-type of starter: Lots of strikeouts, a few walks and wild pitches, but some nasty stuff.

Why they gave up on him, especially with that load of shit they call a bullpen, is mind-boggling.

You sound like all the other Royals fans. You think there's a constitutional right to have a good team.

Uhh he's not that young. He's 29. He's also injury-prone. No way he's going to be anything more than a mediocre closer.

Be glad your team is now trading guys while they still have a semblance of value, instead of holding on to them until they are 33 and broken down from head to toe. See Sweeney, Mike.

  5. Arrrr... I think he's also a free agent at t' end o' t' season. There's no chance he re-signs with t' Royals because there not be sufficient booty. They aren't goin' anywhere this season - so why not trade him? I actually predicted he'd be traded about a month ago. And as Cabin boy pointed out - 29 isn't exactly young and he be injury prone. MacDougal went t' college at Wake Forrest. That makes him a Demon Deacon. I would have liked him more if he went t' Seton Hall.

No, that would be Yankees/Red Sox fans. Royals fans like me simply look for reasons to care about a franchise that's seen better days, nothing more.

And Crippler, there's no reason to be this pissed. I mean, they were ready to trade him to the Mets before the season began until he got hurt, which changed all that.

Change the thread hed to f***ing drunk. MacDougal is 29. Not young. Career ERA nearly 4.00. One year under 4.00. Always injured. Pitched in 162 games, started three. Minor league ERA: 4.36.

Royals are a farm team for the rest of MLB.

MacDougal only has like 3 years of service time, so he's not a free agent.

But I don't think it's a bad deal for KC, if only because MacDougal is injury prone and hasn't exactly proven to have the coolness and confidence to be a top fflight closer. He has some serious shit, though.

You might be thinking of Marshall McDougal, who hit six bombs in one game for Free Shoes U in '99. He's now in the Rangers' organization.
