What happened to all the people I knew on here? I know a good amount of time has lapsed, but even though I got of journalism 10 years ago I still stop by on occasion.

Where are IJAG, Fenian Bastard, Spnited, Sportschick, Cansportschick, SixToe, UT Shooter (I know, she probably graduated and found a job).

    Where is the auld guard?

When some folks got out of the sports biz, their interest in sj.com went with it.

I'm not in sports anymore either as my daily job but the sweet moderator cash* keeps me around.

    *actually there is no money.

And I think Twitter and Facebook has replaced SJ.com as the sports/pop culture outlet for a lot of people.

I’m becoming less certain that this is true. Much of the sort of crap that tends to churn the news cycle would not have passed muster by a gatekeeper editor back in the day of quality journalism.

(Turn that noise down and get the hell out of my yard!)

Speculation has replaced verifiable fact or observable action in what seems to be the majority of stories in the news flow.

Along these lines, great piece in the NYT yesterday:

This place evolves like the language, and then someone says people say "adulting," and suddenly I have no fucking idea what's going on anymore.
