Edmund Fitzgerald and 29 souls went down.

If you've never been on the Great Lakes, there's really no way to describe how heavy it can get this time of year.

For what it's worth, the weather today has been abjectly shitty here. It has been basically raining sideways all day. Points north and west of here are getting a nasty combination of snow, ice, wind, etc., but here's it's just rain at least until the overnight and even then, not supposed to be much accumulation. My apartment creaks and groans a lot on days like today.

As was mentioned in the replies to the thread, the Arthur M. Andersen, the last boat to have contact with the Fitzgerald, is still in service today and regularly travels Lake Superior.

That's awesome.... except for the metric references and the misspellings by adding an unnecessary "u" in words!

Someone pointed out the line that perhaps haunts me the most of the song. It could be true for any event if you've ever lived through something traumatic.

There’s a service every year at the musty old hall, Old Mariners Church, in downtown Detroit
Lightfoot has attended in the past

The most depressing thing in the thread is the Grammy that year went to I Write the Songs by Barry Manilow

That’s a good one. The cook going from “fellas it’s too rough to feed ya” to “fellas it’s been good to know ya” always gets me.
