Bobby Abreu, in his prime, gets traded for an 18-year-old and a bag of balls.

    Chrissakes.

    Enough said.

Actually, Abreu already appears to be on the decline.

Don't see how this deal is emblamatic of what ails baseball.

In about two years, Abreu went from being one of the most underrated players in baseball to one of the most overrated.

How many other teams could have made this trade with Abreu (even a shade past his prime as you accurately pointed out) making what he makes.

Instead of your cryptic post-padder, how about your opinion?

For all of the "comepetive balance" issues, how come over the past 15 years almost the same amount of MLB teams have made the World Series than NFL teams have made the Super Bowl? And that counts a strike year for MLB and twice as many teams every year making the NFL playoffs.

Well, the reason in baseball is money covering up mistakes and injury 3 out of every four teams (Yes... I understand that if you have a bunch of pre-arbitration kids who play great, a cheapie team can compete, but that is the exception).

Football has to do with better-managed teams, since they have the same financial resources.

    Pretty easy.

That's about the intellectual weight of those aforementioned posts.
