Using @BTExpress’s comment in the #RestInPiss (aka Rush is dead but he was no Maddow) thread..I’ve met a ton of very famous people (thanks, journalism) but I suppose I’d list Dolly Parton as my most successful. Between the overcoming her childhood to writing epic songs to running many businesses to amazing philanthropy she’d be my No. 1, above Oprah. But both “lose points” for having not raised a family.

    Yours?

My father. He grew up in a house with no running water and went to an Ivy. Would wear clothes from the Salvation Army to school. Meagre would be generous to describe his origins.

Probably Glenn Seaborg - a Nobel winning chemist so big time he has an actual element on the periodic table named after him. I was a kid and didn't really know what a big deal he was. He was just a guy at a group picnic I was at.

I grew up friends with the future top agent at CAA.

I knew a young Mark Zuckerburg.

    Sandra Day O’Connor multiple times.

A friend is a partner in the third-largest law firm in the world.

Personal success as in life-fulfilling? That’s tough. It’s hard to say because there are so many factors. I have an uncle whose three kids, my cousins, are a doctor, college professor and one of the top-ranked female executives at GM. Uncle was a teacher, eventual superintendent, and my aunt was a stay at home mom.

I know former Stanford men's tennis coach Dick Gould pretty well. He won 17 NCAA team titles and was as successful at his job as just about anyone has ever been at any job.

Nick Bollettieri is another amazingly successful tennis coach.

I've also met all the guys in REM - pretty successful band.

Logan Couture. Dude is a very soft talker.

    Lent Bryant Young my watch.

Watched Matt Cain hit golf balls from the upper deck of AT&T into McCovey Cove. Also George Kontos’ hands could crush bricks.

Ate dinner at the same table as Barry Melrose. He’s actually a really cool dude even if he’s flashy for the sake of flashy.

Trying to think of who else I met and didn’t just interview in a scrum.
