Yay. I get to redesign the world's ugliest section flag/masthed

It's called Sunday Morning Quarterback and right now it's two inches high stretching across the page.

It looks like this if you can imagine:

Sunday
Morning
Quarterback

Only less diagonal. I've got no ideas besides a font change and rearrangement. It's always a B&W page, rehashing Friday's football games.

Any ideas?

 

Flow in the masthead behind a cutout of a football or top player that week. Add some quick-hit info on the side of the flag opposite the page number and date.

I going with your idea. I changed the font and its appearance and moved it to the left of the page. This week, we didn't have a picture of a top player, so there's a little bit of white space that isn't too distracting — IMO.
