#1 - Ask If you're valuable, an editor will certainly consider it. If you're silent, the editor assumes you're more than content to just keep working for the same amount.

So, the twice weekly paper in my neck of the woods offers their online content for free if you buy a subscription to the printed version, or you can sign up for an online subscription. They show the headlines as teases on their home page, but you can't ready anything unless you're giving them...

We haven't had as much luck with Twitter, but Facebook has been a great tool to help drive traffic. It consistently ranks in our Top 10 referring sites.

In a way, this gets to the demise of newspapers. It's impossible for a single newspaper to have the resources to cover every piece of information its readers may have an interest in - the niche is way too small. Someone probably can't make a business out of j.v. softball rankings, but one nutbag...

Well that's one problem I don't have to worry about. Facebook is blocked on our Internet setup.

Funny response Bullwinkle, but I'm in Henry's camp on this story. Obviously a horrible time for that town, but the writing didn't knock my socks off. The writer went to the small town well too many times in this story, and for as awful as the subject matter was, I never felt the raw emotions...

I don't think you can ask for more from the potential new employer after accepting their offer, but if you want to stay at your current job, just apologize to the new paper and say that your current work situation has changed and you've decided to stay.

I would think high school sports on the Internet would be a tough sell. Most of the people that have an interest would already live locally, so they'd probably go to the game. If they couldn't go to the game - work or something - they're probably not in a position to listen on the Internet...

Must've been a bummer for him - some good teams early, highlighted by the We are Family team, and then pure garbage for how many years now?
