Hate the font on Houston's jerseys.

    2025 MLB running thread

The one and only time I saw Mariano Rivera pitch he blew a save against a dog-ass Royals team. It was hot as fork at old Yankee Stadium, over 100 degrees, so if anyone was annoyed, it was because they had to sit through another half-inning of baseball in the oven.

Why use my post to make that point when Williams ... doesn't play for the team I root for anymore. So while your overall point has merit, it makes zero sense for you to use my post to illustrate it. I was hoping Williams would fail as a closer for the New York Yankees.

    Anybody using otter.ai?

Also, the recording device built in on most iPhones will do a transcript now too. It's very basic, but can be helpful. The transcript itself is far from perfect, and none of these transcripts should ever go into a story without time-consuming vetting by the reporter, but as others have noted...

Dude. You're creating a narrative that doesn't exist. Never said closers have to be bulletproof. Christ almighty. I have seen Williams pitch a bazillion times as a Brewers fan. I've seen that movie before that played out yesterday, including every postseason appearance Williams has made. He's...

    Anybody using otter.ai?

I put it to you that you have disobeyed the prime directive. You are harmful to the body. As for Otter, I use it, but within reason. If you're expecting perfect transcripts, forget it. If you want something that saves you some typing at times, it's useful.

Don't get this line of complaint you hear pretty frequently. Like it was the height of entertainment to watch centers post up endlessly back in the old days. (And I say that as someone who doesn't hate 2s, but I also don't hate teams that foist 3s if they can hit them.) If anything, if you're...

Stay in your lane, OOP. I watch way more Brewers baseball than you do. When he's on, there's no one better than Devin Williams. When he's not on, as he was not yesterday, he is vulnerable because he has to hit the zone with that change-up otherwise you can sit on his other offerings or...

    Smoke up losers

My edible experience to date had been pretty underwhelming - I pop these low-dose cherry mints every now and then that I don't mind - until about two weeks ago. Bought some different and more targeted gummies on a recent trip to Michigan. Wife and I split a gummy (we're amateurs), but it had...

    Saint Francis goes D-III

A lot of schools that are or aren't Division I are using athletics for survival. A very picturesque former all-womens school in my old neck of the woods is doing that. They went co-ed to fend off their then-slow demise in the 2010s. Then they started adding sports by the boatload when they saw...

    2025 MLB running thread

It was juicy there for a moment because when Williams can't hit the zone with the airbender, he's really vulnerable and the Brewers know that as well as any team of course. Bottom of the lineup worked him well. Close but no cigar. I'm prepared to be patient and kind of cringe a bit as the...

Ukraine Always Get What You Want

Like I wrote, it's a horseshirt reality, but what's the plan to change it? All I hear is a lot of hope without any actionable plan.

Ukraine Always Get What You Want

I hate writing this. I really do. But there's a reality here that I think a lot of well-meaning people are not facing. A damn harsh reality too. Nearly all wars are won on availability of resources. Whether it's manpower, firepower, materiel, will of the people, whatever. It's rare that a war...

    Saint Francis goes D-III

St. Francis has been Division I all along, right? Mike Iuzzolino is rolling around in his grave. (I'd have said Norm Van Lier or Maurice Stokes, but, um, you know.) I've always thought Division I needed to cull about 1/3 of its membership. That will happen now because these tiny private schools...

    Internet wormholes

So do I go in my time machine to fetch a beer? I'm not sure of the protocol here. One of the delights, I guess, of the new site are the suggested threads at the bottom of the page. That's how I came into contact with that seven-year-old thread. Otherwise, I'd have started a new one. Right now...
