"Getting out of the business" resource thread

From what I gather you can make some pretty good money but it's all dependent on your ability to sell - it's all on commission - sell something or make nothing. I'd hit a Toyota dealership and sell Priuses. :D Good luck, man.

I think they cover New Waverly which is a 2A school. Maybe even Willis HS. Not sure on that though.

    Not just good, Sonic good.

I have heard less than rave reviews from Whataburgers outside Texas, but they have a very good reputation here. Open 24 hours and you can order a burger anytime. They've been doing that before it was cool.

Jeff Bagwell and Fred McGriff - HoFers?

Barry Larkin was born in Cincinnati. That's what I mean. And hey, Andersen did for the Red Sox what he was brought there to do in '90, being as effective as ever out of the bullpen (such a thankless job). But the Sox still finished four games behind Toronto, and 15 appearances for 22 innings of...

Jeff Bagwell and Fred McGriff - HoFers?

Well, good for Larkin that he would not be compared with his teammates but the greats among shortstops. He was easily the best all-around SS in the National League for most of his career. Three Gold Gloves at perhaps the game's most important defensive position, and Ozzie was still around...

Jeff Bagwell and Fred McGriff - HoFers?

The Astros have been an upper-tier team in terms of winning percentage (if not championships) during Bagwell's run. The only true stinker seasons for the team in the Bagwell era were 1991 (his rookie year) and 2000.

Jeff Bagwell and Fred McGriff - HoFers?

I don't think there are any eligible players with 3,000+ hits who are not in the Hall. I guess Rafael Palmeiro will become the first exception to the rule?

Any time is a good time for jalapenos here in Texas...

Has anyone ever REALLY worked with you?

You've gotta have a little bit of an ego (if you don't look out for yourself, nobody else will in this business, unless you happen to be a $100 bill), but you have to know when to put it away. One time to put it away is when someone is trying to help you get better at what you do.

Like I'd mentioned, standards change when survival depends on it. Sort of like how we're moving away from Hummers and F350s lately...

Huh? Whataburger is king. Corpus, even being its home base, probably doesn't need 21 of them though.

Yes, that's mostly the burbs, and they're pretty much the same everywhere. Inside the loop especially you find plenty of unique stuff - like those shops on Westheimer, random offbeat stuff in the Heights and elsewhere (there's a guy who runs a restaurant out of his own house there), non-chain...

You know, I think of how back in the day when people would drive to California they'd take Route 66. That cut through the Panhandle. I can kind of see how people came to view all of Texas as looking like that. My girlfriend is from North Carolina and when she first came here she was also...

Why do people think there are no trees here? Is it the John Wayne movies? Those weren't even filmed here.
