I heard that there was a writer, back in the day, who went from covering preps at the old Miami News directly to the Washington Post. Bill Brubaker, I think. Does that sound right to any of you old-timers? :)

You have to figure that the chances of Adande going to ESPN are about 100 percent. If the LAT wanted to be cute, it would refuse the buyout, knowing he would leave anyway.
By the way, Florida does have high property taxes, but there is zero state income tax. And that is the case in only a few states, I believe. (Nevada, Texas .......)
Ramos definitely isn't sports editor. So the question is, who calls the shots?

SOMEBODY is going to have to decide what you put on the sports cover ......... whom you hire when you have an opening, etc. Seems like someone will emerge as sports editor. Maybe it's camouflage to make a change without hurting...
Cox seems pretty rational in Austin and West Palm Beach. Less so in Dayton and now Atlanta.
Sources tell me AJC also is getting rid of the sports editor position. Can't figure that one out. They hired a great guy just three or four years ago...
