What is up with the Minneapolis/St. Paul media? Just earlier today I saw a clip where a TV sports reporter ended an interview with a talented senior WR prospect by saying, "You gotta go to the Gophers!"
I honestly don't know. Hartley lost a lot of fan support because of the fact the team's special teams were never anything to write home about. And they've been just plain HORRENDOUS this season. Other knocks on the guy is that he doesn't understand how to play his goalies (He'd play Lehtonen...
It's my fault, I was out covering a volleyball tournament and as soon as I stepped in the door of my apartment to turn on Versus, the Flyers scored twice within a minute. This team/franchise/organization/city needs an enema.
I know. The team was building up a lot of positive momentum after making the playoffs last season. But then couple the sweep with this season's poor start, and you're going to see a huge downturn in attendance if the team doesn't improve soon.
Didn't they recently have helmets at least had "PITT" on the side like this? Whatever happened to those?
Do they still use this logo? I remember thinking - "WTF is that? Is that a bear? Bulldog?" I could have never told you it was a Panther.
Bubbly writing Pitt helmets would be cool.
So, is Bob Hartley gone by the end of the month? I thought the Thrashers would take a step back this season, but this is ridiculous, so far. >:(
Ottawa lost 4 of their first 6 last year, so I guess there's hope. But still...blech.
Totally off topic, but Ole Danbolt Mjoes is one of the greatest names ever. It sounds like a Southern car dealership.
"Come pick up your new Silverado at Ole Danbolt Mjoes! On the Beltline."

Most ND people think this is a site run by a fan of one of the team's rivals, though. Considering their last "update" was in 2006, they're probably right.
I'm not going to go predicting the whole season, but I think this could be a breakout year for Florida. They played really well down the stretch last season, have a top-flight talent in Jokinen and have a goalie in Vokoun who can win games. They're also loaded with young talent on both offense...
The heck? I wanted to vote Atlanta Hawks, but not if they're tied to the Thrashers. They were the only team in the city to freaking make the playoffs last year/this year.
I agree. I got a story idea from a parent once that ended up winning me a first-place award at the state's PA awards that year (I didn't think the story was that great, but that's another matter). Other times I've had parents come up to me at games and compliment me to the point of where I'm...
