This was my first job (unless you count a weekly I stayed at for three months before getting this) and it was a great place to cut my teeth and do everything in a great area for HS sports. It's cheap to live there, and Jason is a great guy to work with.
Highly recommend this for a young person.
I'm a recently laid off sportswriter vet available for freelance opportunities in Dallas-Fort Worth. I've covered several Big 12 Media Days, which are coming up, and just about anything else you can imagine.
If you have anything you need covered, feel free to contact me: aboedeker(at)gmail.com...
Well, he was pretty well-known. He's basically a fixture in the Star-Telegram. Might as well have been a full-timer. His Twitter bio even says "Star-Telegram sports reporter." Bet they love that. He's done stuff for us plenty of times. Just saw the guy at a Rangers game last week with his wife...

The Denton Record-Chronicle is looking for stringing help to cover HS football games on Friday nights.
If you have experience taking stats and writing on deadline, and you're interested in covering some quality teams, e-mail Larry McBride at lmcbride@dentonrc.com.
So, the Denton Record-Chronicle (Texas) has laid off their sports editor as one of four cuts last week.
He won't be replaced, and the section is moving to a universal desk with all of the news side copy desk folks supposedly going to handle layout and stuff.
I'm just wondering what everyone...
