Bob covered Missouri basketball for me when I was sports editor at The Columbia Missourian, and I knew then he had the makings of a brilliant sports reporter while maintaining his wonderful demeanor. I'm so sorry to learn of his passing.
Sorry I couldn't access this either. I covered many a Chiefs-Chargers games and Super Bowls with Nick and served on Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee with him. Would have liked to have read this. Always loved his style.
In the unsigned, 3 paragraph Don Shula obit in the current issue, it mistakenly says Shula won three Super Bowls. He won two. This never would have happened in the Time Inc. days.
Disappointing to see the word "lynchpin" in story on minor league baseball in latest issue. Terrible timimg. The word is "linchpin" There's no masthead or listing of editors to contact so they could at least fix this on the web.
The Kansas City Star still provides the first 7 lines for free. Just enough for the name, services, survivors. Anything else, including photo, is extra. Let's hope they continue this policy.
While I am normally a big fan of Real Sports, they totally missed the story here. The issue is not the Internet. Most good newspapers and sports sections were holding their own during the first 10 years of the Internet.
The problem is the ECONOMY. Anyone hear of the RECESSION? That's what...
