our dictionary says two words. online dictionary has it listed as both. which is it???

Using the dictionary AP says you should use -- Webster's New World College, fourth edition -- it's two words.

AP style is one word.

I did a search on google news, and the stories from AP all said "crosshairs."

I have been checking things that way lately.

Where in the stylebook do you see that?

The big thing about AP is that it doesn't follow it's own style.

I'm not saying two words is right, just that it's not in the stylebook. When it's not there, you refer to the above-mentioned dictionary, where it's listed as two.
