The Ledger is seeking a F/T Preps Sports Editor to coordinate coverage of high school sports in Polk County, involving more than 20 schools. Responsibilities will include:

  • Covering games, writing features and maintaining a daily blog and the PolkPreps.com website.
Producing a short weekly video, Preps Live!, recapping highlights and developing issues.
Coordinating special sections on All-County selections and season previews, as well as others that might arise as needed.
Maintaining contact with coaches, players, high school athletic directors, the county athletic director and the FHSAA.
Maintaining accurate schedules of all upcoming athletic events.
Coordinating, recruiting and training a group of freelancers to aid in game coverage, feature writing and maintenance of PolkPreps.com.
Ideal candidates will have experience in all aspects of multimedia journalism, with particular emphasis on existing and emerging digital platforms. A college degree is required.

Looks like it's an online application, no contact info given.

Link didn't work for me.

It appears Brandt Merritt, the old editor, is leaving this position for an academic position.

The correct link is above, but it basically repeats verbatim what was said here.

Any idea what the pay range for this would be? I think The Ledger's circ tops out at about 70,000...
