The starting third baseman for the Tigers' 1968 World Series championship team. He was traded to the Senators as part of the Denny McLain deal that brought three key players to the Tigers: Joe Coleman, Ed Brinkman and Aurelio Rodriguez, who would have won several Gold Gloves at third base if not for Brooks Robinson: World Series champion and Lancaster County native Don Wert dies at 86

And his last name can be spelled on consecutive keys on a conventional typewriter keyboard. The Coyote!

Only a few of my heroes are left. Mickey Lolich, Mickey Stanley, Willie Horton and Denny McLain.

Only old ballplayer whose name appears in the hymn "Holy, Holy, Holy."

"which Wert and art and evermore shalt be."
