RIP James Earl Jones

That show was as much miss as hit, but it was great fun watching Jones throw himself into a performance that made him look like an overgrown child.

"It's not funny, James!"
"Then why am I laughing?"

"Let me guess ... you like Star Wars."

"It's not funny any more James!"

This was some seriously funny shirt. I love how by the end, he's worn down Sheldon. "Hey Sheldon, wake up."

Just a few weeks after the death of another BBT iconic guest star, Bob Newhart. My daughter's 11 and knows these all-time greats from sitcom episodes that aired in the 2010s. Those are pretty great careers. RIP.

The guest stars were often the best thing about that show. Billy Bob Thornton's one-off appearance as a socially-inept doctor who falls in love with Penny was very funny. So was Mark Hamill performing Sheldon and Amy's wedding.

I really liked him along with Robert Duvall in "A Family Thing," from 1992 I believe.

He reverted to the stuttering of his youth for a couple very effective scenes.

Watching this right now.

It wasn't great - written by Rod Serling no less - Jones said it was one he regretted wasn't better. Good cast, main plotline pretty hammy. The kind of TV movie that you would get in the 70s from well-meaning white producers (though the movie was released in the theaters).

He did some Shakespeare at The White House some years ago.
It wasn't just him reading. It was almost like he was acting it out.
One of the 3 people on this earth that I would listen to read the phone book.
My grandfather (RIP)
Keith Jackson (RIP)
James Earl Jones (RIP)

Apparently, he did the phone book, or an ad for it, at least!:)

Here's a nice tribute/profile from Rolling Stone.
