They fired about 40% of the techies who keep Social Security's old COBOL based computer system up and running. Same with the IRS's and the FAA's computers. I've been reading for years (decades?) that they were to be replaced and updated but it's never happened. All of those are a disaster waiting to happen, and firing the people who understand the systems and keep them functioning is going to cause major problems, probably sooner than later.
