The decline in undocumented immigrants from 2008 on is mostly attributable to the financial crisis and recession and the collapse of housing-related industries. No jobs to immigrate to. Undocumented needless to say first to be laid off.

Looking at the voices on this board, and this thread specifically, it really is a wonder why Hillary lost. How could that be possible? Correct. 48% to 45.9%. Trump's approval rating is about 43% now. The vast majority of this board views him as a buffoon and an embarrassment (as do I). So...

The “problem” of illegal immigration will not be solved by a wall. It will be solved by businesses not hiring undocumented immigrants. Until we are truly ready to endure that hit to our economy, there will always be people crossing the border to get that work.

 

Trump was already offered this deal, and he refused. If offered this again, but with a bit more, he'd dance around and then back away again. It is complete moronic punditry to think that any of this is going to appease him. Sullivan ought to fucking know better. We've already been here. He rejected it.
