Here's the mistake I made -- using the word "Democrats." The Republicans and Trump staffers who testified here are being so vilified by the Trump base that it doesn't really matter anymore that they're Republicans.

Liz Cheney has raised $5 for every $1 her closest — and Trump-endorsed— foe has raised. ($10MM to $2MM.) And she’s getting crushed in the polls.
The pedo pseudo Christian klansman has raised $650,000 — pretty big number. While not blessed by the Lord and Savior, he has not exactly faded away since the year-old revelation.

But the rest of the GOP - allegedly sane - has been terrified for six years now to tell those people the truth, because they're afraid to lose elections when the nutso crowd abandons them. See also: Liz Cheney.

Republicans and this country's right wing will not escape the grips of Trumpism (and the slippery slope I'm afraid we're traveling) until they standup and call this bullshit out. No more talking around it. No more what-aboutisms. No more, "how did the left let it come to this?"
