    Any jokes and smart remarks aside, this is really awful.

    Feels like almost like an airplane crash into the ocean to me. I'm guessing the submersible has a black box?

    I hope that's what happened, something similar. Catastrophic failure. The alternative is that something broke, they lost power and sat on the bottom as it got colder and colder, the lights went out and the oxygen went bad until eventually they died. I know damn well no one aboard had a pistol.
