Running Lee Enterprises thread

Also Steve DeShazo in Fredericksburg, a hometown guy who was synonymous with sports in that market. During his decades as sports editor there, the paper punched way above its weight.

 

Jeez. So much institutional knowledge, just gone.

 

I saw a Lee e-paper the other day (the Bryan/College Station Journal) and, apologies to anyone working on it, but it was very much in why-bother territory. No local news stories, one local sports story, just a bunch of random AP stuff.

Hate to hear that. I know some people there. The State Journal was one of the bright lights of Lee.

Every time I read this thread it reminds me the best decision I made in the second half of my life was to leave the newspaper field, and to leave Lee Enterprises, after 35 and 32 years, respectively.

 

Those Lee executives don't like the thought of giving up their XL jacuzzis.

 

They sold Lee Lodge about 16 years ago. How much more can they sacrifice?
