I love the Band and the Clancy Bros.
I like the Who, but they're not in my personal top 25.

Mountain is better than all three.

'Mississippi Queen' and 'Black Betty' are great songs.
I can't think of any other Mountain songs off the top of my head.

The Doors are the most overrated group in R&R history -- borderline top 25 at best.

If Morrison hadn't died, he and Billy Idol would be doing double bills at casinos and county fairs.

This makes me feel even better about liking The Doors.

I thought the Doors were pretty profound and awesome from the time I was about 9 (i.e., real time) until I was about 15, when I realized it was mostly pretentious poseur bullshit.

They're still OK; as I said I'd put 'em somewhere in the top 30 or so -- but no way in the upper pantheon.

I know more about music than you, and have since I was 12.

You only thought of one, since "Black Betty" was by Ram Jam, a group which more or less evolved out of the Lemon Pipers of "Green Tambourine" fame.
