Your mention of Zendaya reminded me of Dune, which reminded me … Timothy Chalamet is going to star in a Bon Dylan biopic?!?! How did I not know that until seeing the ad recently?

EDIT: That would be “Bob Dylan.” Stupid typos!

Saw "Conclave" the other day. I'd heartily recommend it.

    Recent watches --

Longlegs -- totally absurd if you think about it, so don't

The Bikeriders -- decent, didn't think there was any chemistry between the main actors which would have elevated the movie

Clockers -- didn't know it was a Spike Lee joint, some excellent performances

After watching The Penguin on Max, I went back to watch The Batman from a couple of years ago. Though it was good, not great.

Robert Pattinson was fine. The take in this movie was more that Batman was the main character and Bruce Wayne was secondary. Very different from the Christian Bale take, which was really all Bruce Wayne, IMO. It was better than Ben Affleck (who I like), which was just Affleck in the bat suit.

My biggest complaint was one I have often. Sweet merciful crap, not everything has to be three hours long. There was a lot of waste in the flick. Would've been a lot better at 2:15 or so. Desperate need of an editor.

Oh, Jeffrey Wright was good, as always.

I think I saw Bon Dylan do a set at CoverBand Fest back in 93. Their medley of Livin’ on a Prayer While Blowin’ in the Wind was particularly memorable.

I really wish my town's theater would carry
.doesn't look like that will happen. Hopeful the indie place does a weekend screening of it sometime down the line.

    Gladiator II.

Was a little worried it might suck. Is it as good as the original? No. Is it a blast? Yeah.

Looking forward to that one. Watched the original the other day; forgot how good it is.

Hit Man. Didn’t know that much about it going in and was a “we’re home on Saturday night and let’s just pick a movie” choice. It was really, really good. Smart, well acted and insane chemistry between the leads.

Our “home on a Saturday night and let’s just pick a movie” was The Critic. Ian McKlellan in the title role, Gemma Arterton as the femme fatale. Great sets and costumes and acting overcome a thin script. Enjoyable enough to recommend.

Enjoyed it last night. Some great fight scenes and Denzel smirking and sashaying around in a toga. Good fun. Not great, and living up to the original is simply a bridge too far for any film IMHO.
