I never would have thought I'd readjust my work schedule to accommodate lacrosse games and not watch much NFL action, but hey we got there now folks!

That Twitter would have the control it does over the media. Didn't see that. And by control, I mean, reporters - especially on TV - spent and spend all day there, reading and quoting tweets. Very strange.

Yeah, places like TEGNA require a certain number of tweets per day and keep track of your retweets. Fuckin’ rediculous.

That I’d still be driving the same car.

I’m still waiting for this thing to die so I can buy a new car. The environmentalist/cheapskate in me refuses to dump it early.

I figured it was on its last legs at 250,000 miles five years ago. It. Won’t. Die.

It’s starting to annoy me. I’ve had the money saved up to buy a new car cash for two years, but that little Upper Midwestern voice screaming inside my head to not buy something until I actually need it is really cramping my style. It’s at 318,000 miles and it keeps running like new despite the steering wheel disintegrating and the dead air conditioner and a rear tire that slow leaks a pound a week no matter what I do and the embarrassment of having a Bush-era Civic with a bungee cord holding the front fender on get valet parked at hotels and nice restaurants.

The dealer I bought the car from no longer exists. I’m closing in on enough miles to make a return trip back from the moon.

The last time I went to the dealer for maintenance, the guy handed me the keys back and said: “Good luck keeping driving this thing into the ground.” My insurance agent I used when I bought it has been retired for five years. I’m starting to look forward to running historic plates on it.

Part of me wants to leave it unattended and running in Detroit.

Wish I knew how many miles were on my 31-year-old car. Odometer stopped at 210,514 . . . 14 years ago.

I got my '05 Sable in 2011 with 26,490 miles.

Still have the Sable, now with 60,400 miles.

Just spent $2600 to rebuild the tranny.

Will I still have the Sable in 2031?

Ten years ago today I never would have guessed the incredible bond I was about to form with the tiny newborn in my arms, who was of course adorable but was also the surprise baby adding incredible amounts of stress onto an already-crumbling marriage.

    Happy birthday Emily.

I still have the 1998 Cobra I bought used in 2000. Still takes corners like a champ.
