I agree, except:
At the time the blow job occurred the law in Georgia made it illegal and specified the 10 year penalty. I think the fact that his friends video taped him getting a blow job from the 15 year old made the case note worthy from the beginning. Since the crime occurred, Georgia changed the law, but intentionally did not make it retroactive. If the Governor feels so strongly about the harshness of the situation, he should commute the sentence or pardon him. But the judge in declaring a harsh application of a legitimate law unconstitutional is merely substituting his beliefs for the law.

 

Until many groups began pushing a "gay agenda" in state courts, blowjobs were illegal in a lot of states for anyone.

Doesn't mean the law was enforced, or that when it was, it wasn't evidence of discrimination.

 

Bad laws need to be abolished, but in a democratic manner. 1 judge arbitrarily and capriciously ignoring certain laws is wrong.
