From what I've read, I wouldn't term this particular guy as "previously" intelligent, as that would infer he is no longer intelligent. It sounds like he's still intelligent, he just used it in a horrifically bad way. He was well armed with guns and protected with all the gear he had on. He entered through the emergency exit. He went to the midnight showing where the big crowd would be, plus no light would come in due to the time of night.
The part I wonder is if he wanted to be caught. That way, he got to tell police about the elaborate booby traps in his apartment, almost like bragging about his intelligence.
Such a horrible situation. Prayers to all of the victims.

It isn't a matter of common sense when you try to equate parents making their kids wear bike helmets to these same kids later killing 12 people at a movie theater. Doing so without evidence makes someone look like a blowhard.

I could write violent movies and video games is causing more events like this. It's common sense, right?
