I thought I was the only one who felt this guy was trying to live out the movie. Great post.

Says a lot about our society, I suppose, that you can literally get arrested for buying two packets of cough medicine at separate stores within the span of a week, but you can buy 6,000 rounds of ammunition for assault rifles and no one raises an eyebrow.

And no, neither one of those statements is hyperbole:

Cough medicine purchased by grandmothers = illegal.

6,000 rounds of ammunition = totally ok.

Possibly. Sometimes just making the statement that there will be an increased police presence can be helpful.

I do think AMC Theaters were correct to ban masks and props, though. Better to be safe and make your customers feel safe.

You guys keep harping on a stupid argument. I've seen people have kids in Wal-Mart at midnight, movie theaters, football games, etc. It's pointless. This could have happened at midnight or noon. The mother of the 6-year old is not to blame for anything, especially since this took place during the summer, with no school the next day. Christ, get a grip people and worry about the real issues in this case.

I heard that when I was listening to the live feed on KOA radio in Denver yesterday. The guy floated it, but wouldn't say anything more than nothing would surprise him. What the hell? What is wrong with people??

No, it's not pretty stupid. And they didn't have questionable judgment. Try blaming the psychotic asshole who pulled the trigger.

The gun control argument has been made in some quarters, but let's face the truth. All the gun control laws in the world won't prevent things like this from happening.

Seems to me I recall that Norway has some of the strictest gun laws in the world, but that didn't stop that deranged neo-Nazi last year from procuring enough weaponry to kill 70 kids at a youth camp.

Parents taking their baby to a midnight movie is a side issue and nothing more. I think it's questionable when I see it, but parents do stupid things all the time. It's not like they knew a shooting woud happen and decided to risk their child's life anyway.

You don't get it, do you? It is possible to say the 6-year-old didn't belong there without saying the parents are to blame for the 6-year-old being shot. Hell, I wouldn't take my 8-year-old to a movie that violent. No way a 6-year-old should be at a midnight showing. But no way is that child's death, nor any of the deaths that night, the fault of anybody but the asshole with the gun.

Alex Jones (big surprise) said it was a government plot so the U.S. can sign a treaty to ban small arms sales, which isn't close to the issue discussed regarding arms trafficking.
