Does it matter why he did what he did?

My perspective (as that's really all I can offer): Holmes did what he did because he wanted to do it. WHY he wanted to do it means very little to me.

And as for the "What did he choose that movie and that theater" questions, he chose that movie and that theater because he knew there would be a ton of people there, and they would have almost no way of getting out.

If you ask me (which I realize no one did), this guy was a degenerate dirtbag who never learned how to constructively express himself. He probably has a massive inferiority complex, access to firearms and explosives, and thought he could get his kicks by slaughtering a bunch of innocent moviegoers.

I say close the courtroom, don't give James Holmes anymore time in the spotlight, and certainly don't give him any kind of a venue to spout off about whatever crazy stuff is rolling around in that muddled head of his. Throw the book at him and lock him up for life.

I would live a much happier life if I never had to give James Holmes any kind of consideration ever again.

^ I agree that the world would be a better place if we stopped giving so much notoriety to these people.

Sorry Dick, but if he believes that, he doesn't really deserve to be called smart.

Snark aside, there are different types of intelligence. He may have an intellect that made him successful in the classroom and still does so in his field, but in terms of interpreting the world around him, he's just not that bright.

I beg to differ. He's extremely bright. He just had a major malfunction.

Differ all you like. All we really know about the guy is that he was stupid enough to buy into that crackpot theory.

The guy had a meltdown. That's obvious. But I would stop far short of calling him stupid. Academically, he had achieved a lot.

We're talking about the same person who had a major and tragic meltdown.

    You're talking about the killer.

Oop is talking about Dick Whitman's friend.

I'll allow the conspiracy theorists on the right to say this is a sinister plot by the Obama administration if they'll allow the conspiracy theory idea that the Bush administration was behind 9/11.

tick ... tick ... tick. Thought so. Now, both sides, drink a call frosty glass of STFU.
