A 39 percent jump from a holiday weekend... That's misleading...

Earlier in the thread, there was a link to people who were saying the shooter was a mediocre student. But now it comes out he'd gotten a $26,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health.

All of us mediocre students should apply for grants.

And a 43 percent jump over last week. And there really was no "holiday weekend" to speak of as the Fourth was on a Wednesday.

This really isn't misleading. This is you just not understanding data.

Pure coincidence there was a large surge in gun purchases after a public spree killing.

Don't worry, the RWSM is all over it.

The current meme is, "(Guess who) bought guns for the Joker!!!"

And I know you can all guess who.

Not sure it counts as a potential copycat if he made it through the movie without using it. Sounds more like he had it for the shooting he planned AFTERWARD and just took it in with him.

True. Perhaps "inspired by" is more accurate, since he had newsclippings of the Aurora attack.

According the NY Daily News, Holmes was acting in court and the jail said he has not taken any meds since being booked. Of course, defense counsel can still pursue the insane angle if Holmes agrees or cooperates with a pyschologist.

The 6th Amendment is a right to a SPEEDY trial.

If the trial takes forever to start, it's not because of the defense.
