Actually, it is the fault of he defense as defense attorneys often waive the right to a speedy trial.

Are you serious? The vast majority of trial delays are the result of defense attorneys slowing down the process because they understand that time is generally an enemy to prosecution. The farther you get from the date of crime the harder witnesses are to wrangle into court, the more evidence goes missing, etc. About the only time the prosecution seeks a delay is when forensic tests are yet to be completed or some new evidence suddenly comes to light.

Any delay in this case will obviously be on the defense, since Joker-Boy is slam-dunk guilty -- apprehended on the scene.

Does every background check lead to an actual purchase?

    Not if they work right.

You don't do the background check until you're making the purchase. It's not like people are getting pre-approved.

Does anyone say to the clerk, "Did I really passed the background check?"

The number jumped in reaction to the shooting, right?

You don't think some people changed there mind, either because they cooled down, or because they decided no to spend the money?

I'll give you 100, tops, that would change their mind.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but we're just guessing now, right?

How long does the background check take? I honestly have no idea. If it's instant, then yeah, the number is probably low.

With the surge, checks were taking up to 24 hours last weekend.

It's been a few years since I bought a handgun and went through the check process.

I paid for the pistol. The shop then wrote down the serial number on some forms I had to sign.
Then the gun shop employee swiped my driver's license through a machine like a credit card. Thirty minutes later I was walking out the door with a new pistol.
