    No, I haven't. You?
    I don't know what I'd do.
But I'd be loathe to lay on the ground and die without resistance.
Tough guy talk? That's very funny.
So no questions should be asked about a lone gunman who gets off at least 100 rounds in a theater full of people and nobody fights back or attempts to stop him.
Yeah, that's not a discussion worth having.

I have not. I know people who have and I'm told the fear is indescribable, along with the confusion. It happens pretty quickly, too. Who can say what any of us would do? It's just real easy to sit back and say someone should have tackled him. I'm going to guess the mind doesn't react normally in that situation.

You can discuss it all you want. I'm allowed to disagree. No one said it wasn't a worthy discussion.

So we've got a dark theater, some kind of gas canister spitting stuff everywhere, bullets flying ... and folks are supposed to attack the gunman?

He's in the front of a movie theater. You can't rise to approach him without entering his line of fire. No way to get behind him. And he's using a 100-rd. magazine so he doesn't pause to reload.

If only 30OctaveFart were in the theater, the toll would have been less.

How do we know no one tried to stop him?

    Dude.
He reportedly shot a baby at point blank range.
That means he was right there among them.

Yep. So easy to tackle. Just so easy.

See, here's the thing: You know he was a lone gunman. It would have been ever so slightly more difficult to work that out in a dark, panicked, tear gas-filled theater.

An AR is a semi-automatic, and if jammed not an automatic weapon at all.
Even if it was automatic it would be horribly inaccurate, as the Army version is on a three-round burst.
    Get your facts straight, boys.
Call me an Internet Cowboy and fling as much of your poo as you like.
I'd have done everything I could to stop that sonofabitch, rather than die like small game.

Congratulations. You're tougher than most of us. I salute you. I wish I had the stones you have, to be able to say that with that certainty.

Also, as Azrael pointed out, how do you know that people didn't try to stand up to him?
