Man, I fucked that up. First-ballot HOFer, no doubt.

You had Penny earlier and I got Rivera. we're even, for now. :D

Seventeen of the last 21 World Series winners had home field.

But how much of that is b/c of home field? 1987 Twins, 1991 Twins and 2001 D-Backs, for sure. Other than that, have there been any teams that really rode home field to the title?

That would be hard to answer.

I am definitely in that camp.

Actually, the '03 Marlins clinched the NLDS at home. Your point stands, though.

Fuck you jerkoff!!! He threw three innings in Game Seven of the 2003 ALCS!!! He roooooolz!!! (This is quite circular, isn't it?)

Rivera is the exception that proves the rule. He's the only modern closer I'd even consider for the HOF. (Goose deserves to be in but that's a generation ago in baseball terms) He's been the best at what he does for more than a decade and his dominance in the late innings (yes, he regularly got more than three outs in the playoffs during the title years) contributed to the yankees' invincible aura.

I was in the Eck camp when he got in, but I've wavered on that over the last three years. Don't get me going on Hoffman or Wagner or Lee Smith or Borowski.

Really? I swore that was PacBell or whatever the fuck it was called then.

Wait you're right: Game Four. Giants had the home-field. My bad.

Hey, dickhead, Borowski's gonna make the Bayonne Hall of Fame!

I dunno, you sure about that?

He might need all 15 years on the ballot.

Much more offense and base running, not that big a difference in fielding. Concepcion is incredibly overrated.
