That would be true. I only saw Mickey Mantle once when I was a kid. I'll never forget it.

That headlock from Andre the Giant was scary. Couldn't breath for a few seconds. I was tapping out.

My father saw Babe Ruth play in 1927.

    Bullshit. That was you?

For the better part of a decade or more, every time I'm with my one buddy and we pass a car dealership, we recite that Probe line.

Edit: Don't they always fess up at the end of all the calls? I've listened to damn near every Roy D. Mercer album, and they always fess up and tell the person whose idea it was.

    That was me.

The guys on the other end were laughing so hard, they hung up.

Hm. I'm going to listen to that one again on my commute home this afternoon.

Not on the one that made the album. Just listened. They fessed up at the end.

I don't think mine ever made an album. I have tried to find it, and never have. It may have been live. I know I talked to him, and he had me shaking like a dog shitting peach seeds!

Nope, my lie was Sudekis. He DID play here (He's brought it up on Letterman at least twice) but it was before I started working here, so I never covered one of his games. The box scores of the six games he appeared in are still in our archives.

The Whitlock incident happened during that Broncos-Chiefs Thanksgiving night game a few years ago. I only got to witness that because one of my colleagues couldn't make that trip, so I was filling in.
