If anyone is looking for a roommate to cut costs, let me know via PM. Thanks.

Heads up: the mosquito population is the worst I've seen since the '70s (likely due to the insane amount of rain we received the last couple of months). If mosquitoes tend to find you tasty you'll probably want to bring a keg of DEET with you. These suckers are vicious!

What night is everyone attending the game? I think I can only make it for one night now and it will probably be the Saturday night. I vote for the cheapest tickets available, because we can always move down because there won't be anyone at the game.

Tradition has been to go to a game each night, then go from there to watering holes.

Are we allowed to blog from the hotel or will we get kicked out?

Interesting. Well, put me down for a Saturday night ticket and a lot of alcohol.

I know tradition is two nights, but I'm only organizing Saturday night's game since I might not be into Dallas early enough for Friday's game.

If I go, I'd be willing to organize Friday's game. That's a big if at this point, though.

Hope y'all have fun. I wish I could play host in my hometown for the SportsJournalists.com crew. But, travel's not an option for me at the moment. Go drink at JR Bentley's; it's the only bar in Arlington that I know of that's neither a dive nor a chain...

I regret to say, especially at this late date, that I'm bailing out of Dallas.

Between getting the time off (another thread entirely), the expense of the trip -- I spent nearly $1,000 last year for Toronto, which was insane, and the only transportation costs were one tank of gas -- and a bunch of other factors, it's not feasible for me to make it.

I'm kinda bummed, but I also wanna do some other things, such as go to a Homecoming game and afford to eat something other than crappy Ramen for the next three months.

Who knows, maybe I get a cheap last-minute flight, show up on Friday and crash the damn thing if I can wiggle my way out of work on those days, giving IJAG a drunk-dial on my way from the airport, but the likelihood of that happening is very very very slim.

Wicked - You have suffienctly freaked me out now. If travel to Toronto only cost you one tank of gas, how in the world did you spend $1,000? Alcohol? Food? Really good seats at the baseball games?
Just curious, because travel is going to cost me more than one tank of gas and gas isn't exactly cheaper than it was last summer.

    Gola, I probably exaggerated.

I spent way too much on food and drink. And I wasn't anywhere near as generous as JR and HC, who bought rounds repeatedly.

I also put a lot of it on my credit card, not realizing I'd get slammed with a 10 percent markup for foreign usage fees or whatever by the time the bill came in. A stupid move on my part.
