Yeah, I suck. It's hard to move to a new place and have money for Dallas in the same month. Didn't help that the landlord threw me a curveball this morning either. Like I told Inky, if it was 10 or 12 sjers confirmed, I might burn up my credit card and still go, but I can't justify going if it's only 4 people showing up.
Plus, I have a trip to KC planned at the end of Aug. that is a must-do. Need money for that.

buckdub, I can kind of see it only because of the costs involved in this trip. Going to Vegas, one thing. Lots of fun stuff in Vegas. Paying upward of $800 to hang out with four people when all you know you'll do is go to a baseball game and do some drinking? Seems a bit steep.

Going to a baseball game and drinking are highlights of my life at this point, especially when they're done together. Of course, I'm nowhere near Dallas. Rays-White Sox and $7 beers will have to suffice.

Exactly. And like I said, I have a must-do trip at the end of Aug. that I know I'm gonna need money for. The Dallas trip and KC were do-able, but adding the expense of moving with it would sink me.

Well, look at it this way: Arlington fellates big ol' farm animal parts. I know...I graduated AHS Class of 86. Y'all aren't missing a damn thing...except yet another shitty season from the Rangers.

It's the only vaca I have planned for this summer, so I would still try to go. But I won't.

Man, and I thought six was a small number for Vegas.
Plan on it now: July(ish) 2008 for Seattle.

Hate to jump in this late, but I have followed this one from afar for a while, and it seemed doomed from the start. Dallas in July, without one person who actually lives there being the driving force in organizing it, just wasn't a very good idea. In general, my guess is east coast cities are almost always going to give the best chance at turnout.

Well, to be fair, when it started, it was being led by someone who lived in/near Dallas. Circumstances led to that person dropping out. There was no one left there who would/could pick it up. So when it was assigned, it was doable.

Circumstances made it not so much.

I didn't mean to come off like I was assigning blame. It's not something to be blaming people over.

I also may not have followed it closely enough... It just didn't seem like there was someone from Dallas really pushing hard to make it happen, even at the beginning. No Jr and HC, if you will, willing to "play host" and really take the lead in organizing it. But I may have missed that...
